NeurotechEU Blended Intensive Program (BIP) "Robotic Rehabilitation and Brain Computer Interface Applications" Completed
After two intensive weeks of lectures, workshops, and teamwork, the NeurotechEU Blended Intensive Program (BIP) Robotic Rehabilitation and Brain Computer Interface Applications has come to a successful close. The program kicked off with its online phase on 24–28 August 2026 and continued with its physical phase at Boğaziçi University between 31 August and 4 September 2026.
Jointly developed by Boğaziçi University, Université de Lille, Radboud University, Universidad Miguel Hernández, and Reykjavik University, the program covered the neurotechnology dimensions of Neuromorphic Control/Neurorobotics, Neuroprosthetics, and Clinical Neurotechnology. Throughout the program, students explored a wide range of topics, from musculoskeletal biomechanics, mobile robotics and medical soft robots to wireless wearable sensors, exoskeletons and brain-computer interfaces, while also developing an entrepreneurial and transdisciplinary perspective on innovation. Lectures and workshops were delivered by academics from NeurotechEU partner universities together with experts from industry.
Following the opening meeting on 31 August, the first two days of the physical phase were dedicated to lectures and workshops at Boğaziçi University's South Campus. On the third day, the program moved from the classroom to the lab: at MADE in NTSP on the Kandilli Campus, students tested prototypes including a powered prosthesis, a multi-sensor support system, a novel wireless wearable sensor and a passive exoskeleton, and later experienced brain-computer interface applications firsthand at MIMLAB. The final day brought the program to a close with teamwork and presentations. Working in groups, students identified a real problem in the research, clinical or consumer market related to robotic rehabilitation and BCI applications, proposed a solution, and presented their ideas to the faculty at the Wrap-up Panel Meeting. The panel brought students and faculty together to discuss the proposed solutions, share take-home messages from the program, and talk about future directions and professional development.
